Capone-N-Noreaga - The War Report (1997)

The East coast was past its prime in 97, but that doesn't mean great stuff wasn't still coming out. The War Report was a potential classic and is still held in very high regard by all of those 90s East coast fans. With lyricism not far from identical to Mobb Deep and lean, hard, cold beats sounding like they're straight off of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Hell On Earth, or Uncontrolled Substance you might ask "why is this worth listening to?" to which I reply "why the hell wouldn't you want more of that?" Seriously, the beats are so dope and too classic East coast to not want to listen to the next track. Capone-n-Noreaga might sound like Mobb Deep, but they do have the skills and a fresh sense of confidence in their voices to make this great. An East coast essential. Oh and possibly the coolest part of this album is that Tragedy Khadafi (Intelligent Hoodlum) the young member of the Juice Crew with an album from way back in 1990 comes back hard and practically produces this and raps on half the tracks. Queens Bridge!
