Gram Parsons - GP (1973)

If you're looking for classic 70s country rock then look no further. Gram Parsons has an interesting story worth looking up. GP is his first album after working with The Byrds and then Flying Burrito Brothers and isn't too terribly different in all areas. The songwriting is where it's at and his voice with Emmylou Harris are awesome as well. The melodies are good, but sometimes feel a little generic and don't do his influential writing skills as much justice as they should. Then again I don't find myself listening to much of this kind of music so it might be more for you than me. Even so I'll get a good 2-3 listens of this every year so it does have something great about it even if it's not up to the Sweetheart of the Rodeo and Grievous Angel standards.
