Pimps & Playas - Volume 1 (1995)

An exceptional Memphis underground tape that slips by most peoples' radars since Pimps & Playas aren't closely linked to any of the Memphis big names. The only name I really recognize off of a quick listen is K.J. from Skylake Villains, but it could very well be a different K.J (too lazy to compare verses right now, so call me out on whatever facts). The production is simplistic and effective, relying on heavy 808s, hard snares, and other percussion. The album is centered around cheefin gunjah and breakin hoes, but the raw production could easily serve some devilshit as well if it needed to. Hidden fucking gem right here, fire it up and po' up and bump this junt!
