Lee Morgan - The Rumproller (1966)

The Rumproller is one of those funky boogaloo type albums that dominated Blue Note's mid-60s era. I've never really been too interested in this kind of jazz, but I'll admit that The Rumproller goes to a new level. What sets it apart--like its predecessor, the classic Sidewinder--is the inclusion of Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone. He always manages to make poppy jazz (or anything he's on) a little spicier with his stark tone. If you enjoyed the classic Sidewinder (which you should hear before this checking this out), then I think you'll like The Rumproller--though I can't promise you'll think it's at the same level. Groovy stuff.
