Pavement - Watery, Domestic (1992)

Watery, Domestic is the follow-up to Pavement's landmark debut album. Don't let the 11 minute duration convince you that the material isn't top notch. The music is a mix of the fuzzy sound of Slanted & Enchanted and the most melodious songs on Crooked Rain. In my opinion, Pavement was at their best whenever they increased the melody in their compositions, so I'm not sure why these pieces couldn't have replaced whatever the four weakest songs on Crooked Rain were. To me, Texas Never Whispers is the above-and-beyond highlight and a well hidden 90s alternative rock song that could have been bigger than some Nirvana singles if the band had better marketing (which I don't think they even wanted).
